AFFORDABLE COUNSELING

WIA is a non-profit that partners with counselors to offer affordable counseling to ensure that Big Sky community members can receive crucial support. Counselors each operate their own practice, and WIA is a partner to that community work by providing financial support for clients.

OUR PLATFORM

Wellness in Action (WIA) is a nonprofit organization that prioritizes its responsibility to serve the Big Sky community by providing access to critical services to improve mental and behavioral health. Counselors each operate their own practice, and WIA is a partner to their community work by providing financial assistance opportunities to improve access to care.

WIA’s goal is to offer a platform that provides affordable mental health services for all people in Big Sky. As part, we try to offer a range of financial assistance to meet varying needs for our community. We want to help you find the right fit so that counseling services are in reach.

Please reach out directly to counselors for services and they will assist you in accessing financial support.

Sliding Scale

  • Available to you if you do not have insurance or if you are seeing a counselor who does not accept insurance
  • Based on household size and income range you may qualify for WIA to pay a percentage of the cost of counseling services (View the scale: 2024 Sliding Scale)
  • Can be accessed at any time.

Counseling Scholarships

This opportunity for support is designed for clients experiencing financial hardship who are not able to afford attending counseling at the frequency recommended by their provider based on mental health needs.

  • May be supplemental to sliding scale financial assistance
  • May be accessed if you have insurance but are not able to afford the out-of-pocket cost of services before your deductible is met

Scholarships are initiated and submitted by your provider who will discuss eligibility with you. Applicants who have the greatest demonstrated financial need and need for mental health services will be prioritized.

If you are not already connected to a counselor and have questions about these scholarships, please reach out to our Programs Manager, Kiernan at [email protected]

HOW TO SCHEDULE

To schedule a counseling appointment, please reach out to the counselors directly. Please read through the Counselor Profiles below section to read their bios, see what insurance they accept, and decide who may be a good fit for you. The counselor(s) you contact will inform you of their availability, walk you through their intake process, and confirm eligibility to use WIA’s sliding scale.

WIA is not a walk-in center and it is likely you will not be able to see a counselor within the same week. Counselors onboard clients into their schedule as they are able. If you are having thoughts of suicide or feel you need immediate support please call 988 to speak with a crisis counselor at the Help Center in Bozeman.

Julie Grimm, PLPC

Julie recognizes the unique needs and experiences of living, working, and raising a family in our small-town community. Big Sky presents residents, whether long-time locals or new to town, with varied challenges and opportunities for growth.

Julie takes an existential approach with clients, encouraging them to identify opportunities for choice and change, and recognizes that when we, as individuals, couples, or families, experience a lack of ease (disease), it is impossible to live authentically. Unhealthy coping mechanisms can obstruct access to self-worth, self-empowerment, and self-acceptance. Through counseling, clients can learn to understand and embrace their emotional experiences. They can begin to recognize how choices impact well-being. Julie aligns with Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), wherein emotional experiences dictate choice, and our choices are often based on attachment injuries sustained throughout the lifespan.

Every person needs an ally, and counseling allows people to explore, celebrate, and navigate their lives.  Counseling services include in-person and telehealth sessions for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Julie can support clients experiencing individual or systemic stress, including issues of separation, divorce, infertility, identity and existential crisis, and transition.

Payment

Julie accepts out-of-pocket payments and partners with Wellness In Action in using the sliding fee scale for underinsured or uninsured clients. Julie does not accept insurance.

Counseling Options:

In-person at the WIA and BASE offices in Big Sky.
